I'm using a moderate weight one for my baby PC. If Windows 10 is say 99% stable, Mate has been 98%.īy the by, if you actually have a robust system (read: way better than Celeron) you could consider a more robust Linux distro. My prior dabbles with Linux disappointed because the OS wasn't stable enough to recommend. I'm having smooth sailing because I said fsck Windows and just installed Mate over everything. The only problem I encountered here is that sometimes you have to play with BIOS to make it understand which OS you prefer to boot into, and then there was this thing that (somehow) Linux breaks the Windows 10 clock at each boot. But you do so in a way where it sits alongside Windows, in a small partition. If things seem to work - you actually install it. Boot to it and try a virtual session (easy)ģ. Make a bootable USB stick with Ubuntu on it (easy enough)Ģ. It's like they intentionally set up a few hurdles.ġ. But what I was really trashing was how IMPOSSIBLE Windows makes trying Linux via Virtualbox. You might be as pleasantly surprised as I am.īy the by - I was trashing Linux a month or so ago. I'm not asking you to dump Windows but instead consider having both on the same PC. But look at how smooth and fast it 1.) captures a video while 2.) music streams and while 3.) taking a snapshot. This is a test video of a screencap app I did for their forum - PC Decrapifier is a free software designed to suggest and remove unwanted Windows programs. It can be used to clean off most of the annoying software that is typically shipped with new PCs. It's very likely you can easily install it alongside your Windows installation and use it as a zippy RAM friendly 'general use' operating system. Introducing Windows 20 (Concept by Avdan) - YouTube Don't get me started on why Windows 10 didn't look like this years ago. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about pissing and moaning or ranting. as if your point is simply to complain vs. I’m just tired of all those things installed without my consentement ! I can accept that some things have to be present to get the best user experience but some “crap” is really useless (at least for the end-user)Your responses have kinda been more rant and less 'Hmm'. ThePoolMan: that sounds like my experience.
